Portions

Several years ago I started a series that, although I’ve slowed down the progress on it, has never really been completed. The concept started simply as male portraits and evolved into the depiction of intimate moments I was able to capture in the private or personal spaces for these gentlemen. What would it mean for a female photographer to take these sensitive and soft photos of men? Maybe nothing but I thought that maybe it could be something later.

I approached each male friend, asking them to allow me to photograph them for about an hour. During that time we’d chat about their life goals, their girlfriends, their jobs, where they grew up, or etc; the point was to find that topic that allowed me to get that intimate shot.

Although this is one of my favorite series, I’ve only shown the whole set to a handful of people.  All these photos were taken with a medium format TLR camera, 120 black and white film, which was then scanned. You’ll notice dust and a few film defects from the scanning process.
